Cook / Kitchen Assistant (Temporary Cover)
Location: North East Lincolnshire
Salary: £13.26 per hour
Contract: Temporary (14 November – mid March)
Hours: 20 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9:00am–1:00pm
We are looking for a Cook / Kitchen Assistant to provide temporary cover in one of our Children’s Services kitchens. You will be responsible for preparing healthy meals and snacks for children in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
This is a hands-on role that requires good organisational skills, food preparation knowledge, and a positive approach to teamwork.
What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing and cooking nutritious meals for lunch and children’s snacks

Ensuring all food is prepared and served safely, following hygiene standards

Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas

Monitoring food storage and maintaining hygiene and temperature records

Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and maintaining a welcoming environment
What We’re Looking For

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate – essential

Enhanced DBS check – essential

Experience working in a kitchen, ideally in a school or childcare setting

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Friendly, reliable, and committed to maintaining high food safety standards
