Position: Highway Road Worker
Location: North East Lincolnshire
Salary: £13.70 per hour
Contract Type: Based on operational needs
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, with availability for emergency/standby rota
We are looking for a dedicated and physically capable Highway Road Worker to join our dynamic highways and transport team, maintaining safe and accessible roads across North East Lincolnshire. Working in a small, supportive team, you’ll help ensure the road network remains safe, compliant, and in good condition for public use.
At this moment in time, the priority is to recruit someone with a Category C1 (7.5 tonne) driving licence, ideally with experience of construction or manual labour.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Erecting and removing traffic management systems in line with street works regulations

Operating a variety of highway maintenance vehicles, including 7.5 tonne tippers and powered equipment

Laying and compacting bituminous materials, mortar, cement, and concrete

Installing, repairing, and cleaning street furniture, signs, kerbs, and drainage components

Carrying out road and footpath repairs using paving blocks, kerbs, slabs, etc.

Reconstructing inspection chambers, catchpits, and gullies

Completed accurate job records including time sheets and vehicle inspections

Respond to emergency such as flooding, road traffic accidents, and winter maintenance

Ensuring safe working environments through dynamic risk assessments and traffic control

Delivering all works to strict SHEQ standards in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001
What We’re Looking For:

Full UK driving licence with Category C1 entitlement (7.5 tonnes) – essential

Experience in construction, highways, or manual labour (preferred).

Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Prepared to join an emergency and out-of-hours standby rota

Flexible, adaptable, and committed to learning and development

Competent in manual handling and basic construction site practices

Category C with Driver CPC and/or City & Guilds Street Works Accreditation (advantageous, but training can be provided)
