We are looking for two motivated and customer-focused Home Choice Lincs Officers to join our Housing team, helping to deliver a fair, efficient, and inclusive housing allocation service across Northern Lincolnshire. You’ll play a key role in supporting residents to access housing, administering the housing register, and ensuring decisions are made in line with legislation and the Home Choice Lincs policy.
This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to fairness, accuracy, and supporting vulnerable customers.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Administering the housing register effectively, efficiently, and accurately

Responding to customer and partner agencies enquiries regarding access to housing
-
Making decisions about eligibility and priorities based on sensitive and confidential information (e.g., care plans, child in need plans, criminal convictions).

Supporting vulnerable or distressed customers via telephone and email

Requesting, checking, and validating all documentation for applicants and professionals

Liaising with housing partners to review tenancy history, arrears, and behaviour

Organising marketing events in partnership with the Lead Officer

Referring applicants at risk of homelessness to the Homelessness Prevention Service

Signposting applicants to the relevant support services

Applying banding eligibility accurately in line with policy

Working with the system provider and partners to resolve system issues

Providing practical support, guidance, and informal training to partner staff

Advertising properties for non-partner landlords and producing accurate shortlists

Carrying out any additional duties required to support the effective delivery of the service
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
-
Experience working in the social housing sector (desirable)

Experience working with the public, including handling difficult or sensitive situations (essential)
Knowledge:

Understanding of the Housing Act 1996 Part 6 (desirable)

Strong IT skills (essential)

Knowledge of equality and diversity principles (essential)

Understanding of GDPR and confidentiality (essential)
