As our Cost Engineer, you will:
- Drive Value & Control: Be the linchpin in establishing precise cost and schedule baselines, meticulously monitoring performance, and preemptively identifying trends and root causes of deviations. Your insights will drive remedial actions, ensuring maximum value for our clients and the successful delivery of complex projects.
- Lead & Influence: Provide expert guidance and influence to general contractors, ensuring progress aligns with the schedule and within agreed cash flow parameters. You'll collaborate closely with a diverse, remote team of cost managers, reaching market-tested cost baselines.
- Client Partnership & Reporting: Act as a key point of contact and trusted advisor for clients, adeptly navigating delivery and commercial challenges. You'll prepare insightful formal and ad-hoc reports, presenting executive-level dashboards that clearly communicate project time, cost, and quality targets.
- Strategic Cost Management: Leverage your deep understanding of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, basic contingency principles, and procurement strategies to rigorously control project costs. You'll expertly manage and present comprehensive cost reports, translating complex financials into clear, actionable executive insights.
- Master of Change: Lead and implement our agreed change management process, providing a transparent platform for adding, tracking, monitoring, and approving all project modifications.
- Schedule & Planning Excellence: Orchestrate and lead planning sessions and workshops with clients and vendors to construct and agree upon the master project/programme schedule, defining critical paths. You'll expertly integrate vendor lead times and client requirements, prioritizing material and equipment ordering for seamless installation.
- Proactive Risk Management: Actively participate in project team risk evaluations, translating identified risks into quantitative impacts on project cost and schedule using advanced tools like Monte Carlo simulations.
- Accountability & Communication: Maintain constant communication with project teams regarding status and changes, ensuring timely integration into the change management process. You will hold vendors accountable for providing accurate and timely schedule updates, maintaining the integrity and adherence to defined processes and quality expectations of the master schedule.
What You Bring:
- Proven, extensive experience as a Cost Engineering Professional, ideally within large-scale Oil & Gas and/or Renewable energy projects.
- Deep expertise in establishing, monitoring, and controlling project costs and schedules.
- Strong analytical acumen, capable of identifying trends, root causes, and proposing effective remedial actions.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a proven track record of influencing contractors and acting as a primary client contact.
- Proficiency in conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, contingency planning, and procurement principles.
- Hands-on experience with formal change management processes and workflows.
- A collaborative spirit, effective in working with remote and diverse international teams.
- Familiarity with advanced risk evaluation techniques, including Monte Carlo simulation.
